Our hidden ecosystem - the gut
With new research revealing incredible insights into the importance of the gut microbiome for our health, never before have those wise words from Hippocrates rung so true.
Within our digestive system lives an entire ecosystem, made up from bacteria, fungi and viruses. This is called the gut microbiome. If it’s working well, chances are you’ll be feeling well. If it’s out of balance, then it’s likely you’ll be feeling the effects in one way or another.
Incredibly, our microbial cells outnumber human cells by 10 to 1 and microbial DNA outnumbers our human DNA by a factor of 100 to 1! This is why our microbiome is so vital for our health. We need to keep those microbes happy.

What is the Gut transformation programme?
The Gut Transformation Programme is an intensive gut clearance protocol aimed at those who are plagued with gut-related problems which may have been ongoing for many years.
This includes symptoms such as bloating, gas, nausea, fatigue, heartburn, constipation, poor concentration and headaches.
Using targeted nutritional formulations including digestive enzymes and probiotic formulas, together with a proven food plan, the Gut Transformation Programme aims to normalise a healthy gut function. In turn, this helps reduce or eliminate previous gut-associated symptoms and restoring health.
How does the Programme work?
The programme follows the principles of the 5R approach over a period of 6 weeks. This is a widely used protocol which is often followed over several months.
However, since the Gut Transformation Programme systematically and effectively targets areas known to contribute to poor gut health, the programme has been shown to provide excellent results in just 6 weeks.
The dietary plan follows a low allergenic foods menu with the option of a FODMAP* approach (for those with IBS type symptoms). This means eliminating ingredients which are known to contribute to an unbalanced gut microbiome.
The plan works as follows:
A few days before starting the programme, it is suggested you eat some raw beetroot, noting the time and date you ate it. Your task is then to record when you first notice its reappearance when it emerges at the other end! This helps provide an idea of your gut transit time. This task is repeated again at the end of the 6 weeks.
You will also have a medical symptoms questionnaire to fill out and you’ll need to record details of your height, weight, waist and BMI prior to commencing the programme.
Weeks 1-2: Follow the food plan and supplement schedule.
Weeks 3-4: Follow the food plan and revised supplement schedule.
Weeks 5-6: Follow the food plan and revised supplement schedule.
After your final day of week 6, re-take and record your body measurements and fill out the medical symptoms questionnaire.
